Memorial Day Workout Plans

I know that Monday is a day to sleep in when you'd normally be at work - but I'm going to be trying a CrossFit WOD at Body & Fuel in Beaverton.

I found some local friends on instagram and they invited me to the Free Holiday Workout.

Rumor has it we're doing the Murphy.

What's a Murphy?
  • Run 1 Mile
  • 100 Pull Ups
  • 200 Push Ups
  • 300 Squats
  • Run 1 Mile

The Pull Ups / Push Ups / Squats can be done in any order you please.

I was given the idea to do 5 / 10 / 15 - 20 sets.

I can't do a pull-up (YET!!!), so I'm looking forward to using the resistance bands and seeing what I'm made of. It's very possible that I won't be able to walk or lift my hair dryer above my shoulders on Tuesday, but I'm somehow okay with this.

Wish me all of the luck! Any kips tips?

  1. Make sure you ease out of those resistance bands so you don't sling shot yourself :)
P.S. I think you're crazy and you should have coffee with your Mama instead.
Can I write you a note?

  3. I think I shall do the MURPHY too! I use the assisted pull up machine at the Y.. it allows you to add a little weight under you to propel you back up. Right now, not going to lie, I have it at a little less than half my weight. So, it's a lot of push.. BUT.. I know I'm getting stronger and will slowly bring it down, until I can do one all by myself...**FINGERS CROSSED**

BOX JUMPS AND PULL UPS my weight loss goals.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend.. Let's kick some workout butt.. OKAY?

  4. Good luck! Crossfit terrifies me for some reason. I have some hardcore Crossfit friends and I think I will stick with Body Beast after hearing them talk...and seeing all their bruises!

You are going to rock those resistance bands!!!

  6. Welp I'd be screwed on the pull ups and push ups haha, my baby arms would fail me. I'm working on it ;) I actually like high rep things like this. My last bootcamp instructor would do high reps, but she left and went to teach at Crossfit. I miss her! I think I'd really enjoy Crossfit, but I pay $20 for my gym membership and I can't push myself to pay the $125 a month :(

  9. I believe in you! Pull ups were hard for me for a while, I would probably do them in 5 or 10 sets! Good luck! :)

  10. Good luck!! I looked this up the other day because I was going to do it before I realized it was leg day. If I were you, I would do one of these:
    5-5-5-15
If pushups are a particular challenge:
    20 rounds of
    5 pushups
    5 pullups
    5 pushups
    15 squats
    OR
    5-5-5-10-5
    20 rounds of
    5 pullups
    5 squats
    5 pushups
    10 squats
    5 pushups

    Kill it!!!
