Failed to Plan

So you guys know how I am always telling you "plan or plan to fail", right?

Usually at work I've always got some emergency snacks - carrots, meat, protein powder. It all counts.

Yesterday was no exception! I packed a lunch, I had my snacks and I was all set for another healthy day.

All of a sudden time slipped away from me and I was off to a 5 hour back-to-back meeting schedule without an opportunity to grab my foods.

I was doing well until 3pm rolled around and there was a snack table from catering that had coffee, fruit, m&m's, pretzels and a nut mix.

Now the "good" me would have politely grabbed a banana and coffee, but the "treat yo'self" me said screw you, Paleo and opted for the m&m/nuts mix. It was also really salty. Hate me.

The "treat yo'self" me was very satisfied with this decision until I immediately felt lethargic and in dire need of a sweaty circuit workout. I got home and got it out of my system, but know that I shouldn't feel the pull for my workout because I've made poor food decisions.

I feel like I've been a poor example to you ladies recently with my cinnabon delights yesterday and now this - plus my lack of water lately! I'm not falling off the wagon but I'm definitely letting some obstacles get in my way.

This is the part where I confess, get over it and become a better role model for you again.

Wish me luck!

Happy confessions with Kathy!

  5. You aren't a poor example at all. You're a human and sometimes, we oops make the wrong but quick decision. You worked it off and now you know what works for you! keep it up lady!

  6. Don't be so hard on your self. It okay to cheat once in a blue moon. You workout a good amount. So you deserve it.

  7. You are NOT a poor example. I cheat every once in a while. Life is short, enjoy the m&m's then just work it out later! No big deal girl ;)

  8. If that's your definition of a poor example then we need to reevaluate. Sure it wasn't your normal but it wasn't bad by any means in the grand scheme of things. I would be ecstatic if I could make that my "bad". I'm starting back up with the water drinking myself today, #100ouncesAday challenge?

  9. Good on you for getting your sweat on though! Right now, I'm trying to cut off all unnecessary chemicals and artifical sugars from my diet. It's hard man. On Sunday night I said f it and had a diet pepsi with my air popped popcorn. It was delish. And I like to believe that I sweated it all out and am none the worse for it.

  11. After that long without food, I would have grabbed more than the m&m's and nuts, so you didn't do too bad x). Treating yourself is good for you sometimes.

  12. Remember yesterday when I was exhausted.. and just empty? Well that resulted in the amazing confessions of today... which the salt made me feel gross, and I'm sure that I exercised enough to get rid of all that gross feelings of salt and bloating foods.

  13. I had some peanut butter m&m's last night... SO GOOD. Sometimes it's a good reminder that you can have whatever you want but that your body craves the better-for-you stuff.

  14. i mean, let's talk about this for a second... BUT if you're 'cheat' was trail mix. I think you're going to be ok.... :)

  15. Oh man those peanuts and m&m's look so good.. At least nuts are healthy so you didn't do TOO bad!! :D

  16. I say hell yeah to indulgence! . . . in moderation. I don't feel like you've been a bad example, you've been real. And that's okay. In fact, it's better than okay! I go by the 90% rule. Something along the lines of if 90% of your choices are good/solid/healthy then it's okay for 10% to be cinnabon delights and other yummy things and/or needed rest days. Everything in moderation :)

  17. SISTER, you are a great example!!

sometimes you GOTTA treat yo' self.
or you will go cray cray!

  18. Seriously. You are a much better example than you think. I'd rather have just two treats in a week than one every day... oops, I just told on myself.

  19. You gotta TREAT YO'SELF every once in a while anyway!
